Vaser ultrasound technology works by using ultrasound waves to break up fat cells from the connective tissue holding them in place, allowing them to be more easily drained from target areas of the body.
The procedure consists of small keyhole incisions, allowing the surgeon to slip cannulae into the layer of subcutaneous fat. The tip of the tube vibrates at ultrasonic frequencies specifically tuned to move and dislodge the fat cells, which are then removed under suction. Vaser liposuction can reshape and refine the face and body by carefully removing local fat deposits. The result is an improved body contour and body proportions.
Fat may be eliminated from the following areas: face, arms, back, legs, and stomach. Finer targeting can include under the chin, cheeks, jowls, neck, upper arms, breasts, chest, abdomen, buttocks, hips, inner and outer thighs, knees, calves, and ankles.
Costs for Vaser lipo depend on the number of areas to be treated, the volume of fat to be removed, and density of connective tissue holding it in place. Compared to regular liposuction the cost of Vaser liposuction is cheaper as it uses only local anaesthetic or IV sedation and requires no post-operative hospitalization. Prices for Vaser treatment in London start from around £2,500 and will vary depending on the patient.
As only light sedation is normally needed patients typically return home after the procedure, and can often return to their normal lives after a few days – even playing sports. On average swelling and bruising usually subside after two weeks, however sometimes it can take a little longer.
During post-operative recovery, the patient wears a compression garment for rapid healing, ensuring that skin retraction proceeds as well as possible.
Most patients have a Vaser procedure under local anaesthetic, with little or no pain after the operation. Post-operative discomfort is usually limited to swelling and bruising.
Many people ask what is the difference between Vaser lipo and Micro lipo. Vaser lipo uses ultrasonic waves to shake fat loose and liquefy it. Ultrasonic waves penetrate the fat layer and in some cases, skin and tissue can be burned by the ultrasound device. While Micro liposuction involves injecting large volumes of dilute local anaesthetic to the areas being treated. This causes firmness or a type of swelling in the area also known as tumescence. When done correctly and in the right quantity, is the safest form of liposuction. This is because the anaesthetic solution shrinks the capillaries, reducing surgical blood loss. Micro lipo uses micro cannulae (cannulae that have a very small diameter – less than 2.3 millimetres.) Unlike traditional liposuction where the cannula diameter is 6 -10 millimetres, Dr Gupta’s micro cannulae remove the fat in a slower but more uniformed approach. This results in a smoother finish.Vaser Liposuction
